There's Still Time to Make Your Gift Count!

As the countdown to the new year begins and family and friends gather to celebrate holiday traditions, the Summa Foundation thanks you for your support and generosity throughout 2009.  Your donations have allowed us to continue the important work done by our physicians and researchers in their quest to advance the field of medical care through research and education.

But the need for your support is ongoing.  Your tax-deductible contribution at the end of the year can have an enormous impact on the goals of the Summa Foundation. Whether you prefer to designate a particular area for your gift or simply want to support where the need is the greatest, be assured that the significance will make a difference.

Some options for year-end giving include:

  • Gifts of cash – writing a check is the easiest way to make a tax-deductible gift; be sure the envelope is postmarked by December 31, 2009
  • Gifts of stock – avoid capital gains taxes and take advantage of tax deduction
  • Gifts of real estate – realize a tax deduction for the full fair market value of your property
  • Gifts of life insurance – check with your life insurance agent to take advantage of the tax savings and deductions through donating policies that are no longer necessary
  • IRA Rollover gifts – if you’re at least 70 ½ years or older, give up to $100,000 directly from your IRA and avoid federal income taxes
  • Life Income gifts – transfer assets now, yet still receive income from donated cash, stock or other property
  • Bequests – keep in mind the long term tax savings that are a result of estate planning
